Explore the city of Accra and visit one of Ghana's most famous parks, Kakum National Park. Accra is the capital of Ghana, on the Atlantic coast of West Africa. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park honors Ghana’s first president, who helped lead the country to independence. The park contains Nkrumah’s mausoleum and a museum charting his life. Makola Market is the city’s vast, colorful bazaar. Popular seafront spots Labadi Beach and Kokrobite Beach offer golden sand and high-energy nightlife.

Depart from Washington Dulles on your South African Airways flight.
Day 2
ACCRA
On arrival at Kotoka International Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Set amidst tropical landscaped gardens, overlooking one of Ghana’s most beautiful beaches is the famous Labadi Beach Hotel. The hotel, which is renowned for its food and the unique spirit of Ghanaian hospitality, is located within easy access of both the city and airport.

Day 3
ACCRA
Spend the day at leisure.
Optional: Explore Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom or visit Kakum National Park.
The Ashanti Kingdom (also known as Asante) was one of the most prolific Africa has ever seen and reigned over a large part of present-day Ghana all the way down to the Ivory Coast for over 300 years. While the kingdom eventually fell apart in 1957, many of the traditions still live on. In fact, the Ashanti monarchy still continues (in a much smaller form) inside Ghana.
Kakum National Park is a home for nature lovers. Trained guides are on hand to explain the economic, cultural, and medicinal values of plants and farming. Not far from Cape Coast is the serene, golden beach of Brenu Akyinim, a stretch of sandy beach which provides an excellent site for swimming, sun bathing, and bird watching.

Day 4
Departure
Enjoy breakfast and morning at leisure to explore more of Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti Region, in southern Ghana. It’s known as a center for Ashanti culture. In the huge, open-air Kejetia Market, stalls sell everything from glass beads to Ashanti sandals. The National Cultural Centre offers craft workshops and dance performances. Then depart to the airport for your flight to the United States.
