24 Days


Start your excursion at the Thornybush Private Game Reserve located in the Greater Kruger National Park. Next you will spend three nights in the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town where you will enjoy a full-day Cape Point tour and a full-day Winelands tour. Followed by a 14-day cruise aboard the Oceania Nautica which takes you along the coast of Southern Africa from Namibia to Mozambique before coming back to Cape Town.


Day 1


Depart from New York JFK on your South African Airways flight.

Day 2-4


On arrival at the Johannesburg airport, you will connect for your one-hour flight to Hoedspruit.

At the airport, you will be met and transferred to your lodge in the Thornybush Game Reserve, which lies adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park. Here you will enjoy the next few days experiencing exclusive safari adventures in both open Land Rovers and on foot. The private reserve is home to an abundance of species including the "Big Five". Being predominantly open savannah and with a near perfect year round climate, it is the ideal African safari holiday destination in the lap of luxury.

While at Thornybush,you can go on twice daily game drives in the African bush with experienced game rangers and Shangaan trackers. Game drives are undertaken at the best times of the day to avoid the harsh African sun while the rest of your day may be enjoyed at leisure at the lodge. From hearty breakfasts to gourmet dinners and enthralling game safaris, you are sure to be tantalized during your stay.

Day 5-8

Cape Town

After an early morning game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred to the Hoedspruit airport for your flight to Cape Town.

Upon arrival in Cape Town, you will be met and transferred to the Queen Victoria Hotel, located near the V&A Waterfront.

While in Cape Town enjoy a full-day Cape Point Tour and a full-day Cape Winelands Tour.

Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at the Queen Victoria Hotel.

Day 9-10


After breakfast at the hotel, you have the morning at leisure before embarking the Nautica for your 14- day cruise.

Day 11-12

Walvis Bay, Namibia

Spend the next two days exploring Namibia. While in Walvis Bay we are happy to provide excursion options.

Day 13-14

Cruising the Atlantic Ocean

While cruising the Atlantic Ocean enjoy the onboard entertainment the Nautica offers from reading comfortably in the library to sipping fine vintages at a wine tasting, a wonderful spectrum of enriching activities awaits. Attend an engaging guest lecture in anticipation of your next destination or enjoy the upper deck as you improve your golf game on the putting green. Spend the afternoon with friends at a lively trivia contest or bridge tournament. Or simply lose yourself in deep relaxation with one of Canyon Ranch® Spa signature treatments.

Day 15

Port Elizabeth, South Africa

South Africa's third largest port, Port Elizabeth is known as “The Friendly City.” A popular destination for water sports, Port Elizabeth offers spectacular beaches, historical attractions, the oldest bowling green in South Africa and beautiful wildlife sanctuaries. Bayworld features a fascinating cultural history museum, an oceanarium and a snake and dinosaur park.

Day 16

East London, South Africa

The nation's only port on a river, East London stretches along the banks of the Buffalo and is revered for its unspoiled beaches. Although links to England are apparent, East London still bears a refreshing South African ambiance. The aquarium is phenomenal, as is the East London Museum, which displays the world's only dodo egg.

Day 17

Durban, South Africa

British colonial architecture prevails in Durban, yet natural beauty is what characterizes this charming city on the Indian Ocean. Its Golden Mile beach area attracts sunbathers, of course, but also shoppers and those who enjoy walking the promenade. The Juma Masjid deserves a visit, as it's the largest mosque in the southern hemisphere.

Day 18

Richards Bay, South Africa

Take an excursion to one of the nearby game reserves or simply gaze over the surrounding waters, where you might get a glimpse of dolphins, whales and kite-surfers. The best view is from the lookout point at Alkantstrand Beach. Richards Bay is a busy port and the myriad of specialized ships will intrigue marine buffs.

Day 19

Maputo, Mozambique

Intent on recapturing its former glamour, Maputo once again attracts the rich and famous, whom you may see while sipping a cocktail at the extravagant Hotel Polana. Maputo's struggle for freedom from Portuguese colonialism is recounted in local museums.

Day 20-21

Cruising the Indian Ocean & Cape of Good Hope

Spend your last couple of days relaxing aboard the Nautica where you can enjoy any of the ship's wide variety of activities.

Day 22-23

Cape Town

You arrive in Cape Town in the early afternoon and will have the evening at leisure to explore the city.

After breakfast onboard the Nautica, you will be met in port and transferred to the Cape Town airport for your flight to Johannesburg and connecting flight to New York JFK.

Day 24


Arrival in the United States at New York JFK airport.
